You really can't convey the awkwardness in still images. But I tried.

Sometimes it's just easier to draw an inanimate object.

Not crazy about this one. I tried to look mean, ready to attack the dirt and grime in my home, but it just looks awkward. Probably because I'm not used to looking mean. :)

Also, I decided to start over on my page numbering. I got a new journal, which means a new 160 blank pages. Maybe I can do it this year?? It's a page every 2.28 days, which still seems like a lot. We'll see, no pressure.

I'm back! I figure the new year was a good excuse to start drawing again. I really do love this sketchbook project, and I always feel guilty when I put it aside. I want to improve. I want to be a better drawer. I don't want my Microns to collect dust. So what the heck. Let's give it a go. Maybe I'll get to those 160 pages after all!

This drawing reminds me of my "carbs" drawing (#52), but better. :) I also switched back to the brown paper journal.

Happy New Year, everybody!

As soon as I put that first orange marker to the page I regretted that decision! I wanted to add color because all of the buildings were kind of blurring together, but I wish I would have done it different. Oh well.

I thought maybe I could start a project when I draw things I love. Might make a fun zine.

A ridiculously quick and goofy doodle, based on a comment my friend Amy made about Rob taking our new plant out to dinner. :)

On my never-ending quest to discover what I want to do with my life, I thought I'd think about all the things I LOVE to do, and maybe that could help me figure some things out. Okay, so maybe I won't be a professional sleeper or bowler. But what if I combined writing silly poems with drawing and bookbinding?

It's been a while! The HOW Conference always motivates me to pick up my sketchbook. So even though I might not be on the "160 Pages" quest, I'm going to try journaling again. Maybe even some zine making? Anyway, I thought I might as well post the drawings on this blog.

I have never been able to draw on the first page of any journal. I've always had fear of making mistakes. Well, I want this one to be FULL of mistakes, so I went ahead and doodled right on the cover.

Page #44: I'm back!

Okay, so I only got 43 pages out of 160 done. But I knew that at the start of 2010, I wanted to continue the project. No point in starting back at #1, so I'm continuing until I finish my 160 pages. And I will, dang it!!!

I could tell that I was rusty after four months of inactivity. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it again after a few weeks. This time I'm not going to put so much pressure on myself. I think attempting to draw everyday was WAY too much. So if I can manage to sketch a few times a week, and not give myself too much grief if I have to miss a stretch of time, I'll be less likely to give up altogether. We'll see!
